Esteban and Stephen totally understood my vision for an entire redesign of my backyard. And rather then have to wait for it to come together in 2-4 weeks, they were able to start right away due to another client having to reschedule. On day one the crew had demolished my "old tired" yard with undesirable plants and hedges removed. Day two began the new vison and within 5 days the entire project was completed beautifully! I had a truly wonderful experience with Novara. I hired them after carefully reviewing several companies in my area to transform my empty rectangular dirt-filled yard into an expensive looking sanctuary and garden.

Novara brought my vision of a porcelain paver landing with inset lights, a porcelain paved patio with pergola, decomposed granite, trees, plants and irrigation to life in spectacular fashion! Quickly, professionally and with results that exceeded my expectations.

Stephen Garcia and his crew went above and beyond in executing my desires. He spent lots of time answering my questions, looking at tiles, talking to me about every step. His crew had an amazing work ethic and were there early every day, working full long days in the heat.

Their work was seamless. From plantings to pouring concrete, they took care to add gopher wire, rebar, and lots of things lesser companies don’t consider. The joints on the tiles were lined up, grouting was perfect, plants are flourishing.

I highly recommend Novara Landscape and Construction for landscape construction and site improvement services. Throughout their work, Novara demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality from start to finish.  I am a homeowner in San Rafael and a gardener, so this project was very important to me having purchased the home in 2025 with a backyard in extremely poor condition.  Both the owners, Steven and Esteban, as well as their team, made this project a real pleasure.  As a commercial property manager, I have worked with numbers of contractors and Novara gets high marks for their performance which makes them stand out!
Novara performed removal of significant old tree root structures and damaged hardscape, installation of a drainage system, hardscape installation including a very attractive colored concrete and tumbled brick, as well as the irrigation and planting of my softscape plan. They performed each phase of this project with great attention to detail and coordination which resulted in an efficient, and well-organized job site.
Their grading/drainage work was just what I needed to prevent water damage to my home’s foundation. The concrete installation was well executed and finished professionally. In addition, the irrigation and planting installation reflected both gardening knowledge and care, resulting in a wonderful foundation for my new garden.
What stood out most was their responsiveness, the willingness to explore options to stay within my budget and their construction expertise.  Additionally, I appreciated the professional estimates and contract format that provided clear and detailed specifications. Based on my experience, I would confidently recommend Novara Landscape and Construction to anyone seeking a capable and trustworthy contractor for grading, drainage work, hardscape and softscape installation and the necessary irrigation for a successful landscape project.

I connected with Novara on a Tues and they came out the very next day on Weds to look at my yard and discuss what I was looking for. I wanted to install privacy trees in my yard and some accent brush. They provided a thorough proposal and some different evergreen privacy tree recommendations within a couple days turnaround, and then completed the entire job the following Friday (10 days from initial outreach)!

Throughout the process they were extremely communicative and proactive. During the day of install, they removed all existing weeds complimentarily, and helped install a new irrigation valve at discount after we determined we couldn't access my existing HOA one. Their prices were incredibly reasonable, and I was so impressed with the results.
