Landscape and Hardscape Services Across Marin and Sonoma County
Novara serves homeowners and estates across Marin and Sonoma — from Mill Valley and Sausalito to Petaluma and Healdsburg. One crew, one standard, every property.
Where Novara Builds: Marin and Sonoma County
Novara serves every community across Marin County and Sonoma County. The microclimates, the sloped lots, the redwood canopy, and the design expectations of Marin homeowners shape the way we build everywhere we work. Our crew knows which native plants thrive in coastal fog, which retaining wall details survive on hillside grades, and how local permitting actually works in every jurisdiction we serve.
From the south end of Marin to the northern reaches of Sonoma, the same crew, the same standards, and the same 3D design process apply to every property we build — whether it is a hillside in Tiburon, a beachfront in Stinson, a vineyard estate in Healdsburg, or a craftsman home in Petaluma.

What Sets Novara Apart for Marin and Sonoma Landscapes
Mount Tamalpais shapes everything in our region. Coastal fog rolls in over the ridge most summer mornings, drops temperatures fifteen degrees in twenty minutes, and creates microclimates that change block to block. A garden that thrives in one Marin neighborhood may struggle three miles away in another.
The Richardson Bay shoreline, the Ross Valley corridor, the redwood canopies of southern Marin, the open spaces of Mount Tamalpais State Park — every Marin landscape sits in conversation with a specific landscape feature. We design around what is already there.
In Sonoma County the conversation shifts. Vineyard properties demand different planting. Coastal Sonoma sites need wind-tolerant species. Petaluma's rolling hills run on different soil than Marin's clay slopes. The crew adapts. The standard does not.

On every project
A landscape company that does great work in one part of Marin does not automatically do great work in Bodega Bay. Coastal sites need different planting, different fasteners, different drainage. Vineyard properties demand sensitivity to existing root zones and old-growth trees. Properties in Ross and Kentfield carry different design expectations than Petaluma craftsman homes. We have built across both counties for almost three decades and learned the difference between projects that need to feel polished and projects that need to feel rooted in the land. Same standard, different vocabulary, every time.
Marin and Sonoma Service Area FAQ
What is your primary service area in Marin County?
We serve every community in Marin County including Mill Valley, Tiburon, Belvedere, Sausalito, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Kentfield, Ross, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Greenbrae, San Rafael, Novato, Bolinas, and Stinson Beach. Same crew, same standards, every property.
Do you serve Sonoma County properties?
Yes. We work across Sonoma County including Petaluma, Penngrove, Cotati, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Kenwood, Healdsburg, Bodega Bay, Windsor, Forestville, Graton, and Two Rock. Estate builds, vineyard properties, and residential landscapes all get the same Novara standard.
How does Marin's microclimate affect your work?
Marin's coastal fog, redwood canopy, and sloped lots shape every project. We design around the specific microclimate of each property — sun exposure, fog patterns, wind, and grade. A planting plan that works on a flat lot will not work on a hillside three miles away. We adapt to your specific Marin or Sonoma site.
Do you handle large estate properties or only residential?
Both. Our flagship Belvedere Estate project shows the scale we can handle on the high end. Most of our work is residential — Marin homes, vineyard estates, and Sonoma craftsman properties. We bring the same crew and the same standards to a small backyard in Marin that we bring to a multi-acre Sonoma vineyard property.
Can you work on properties in West Marin like Bolinas or Stinson Beach?
Yes. Coastal Marin properties have unique challenges — salt air, wind exposure, sandy soil — that require different material choices and construction details. We have completed projects in Bolinas, Stinson Beach, and along the Marin coast. The marine climate adds complexity but does not change our standards.
How does pricing work across different cities in Marin and Sonoma?
Pricing depends on the project scope, materials, site conditions, and access — not on which city you live in. A patio in Mill Valley and a patio in Petaluma are priced on the same fundamentals. Travel for jobs north of Petaluma can add minor logistics costs but never changes our quality. Free estimates always include a detailed written breakdown.
Do you handle permits in every city you serve?
Yes. Every Marin County city has its own permitting process. Sonoma County cities each handle permits differently. We pull every required permit on your behalf — Mill Valley, San Rafael, Novato, Petaluma, Sonoma, Healdsburg, and every city in between. Engineered drawings for retaining walls and structural work are coordinated with the appropriate jurisdiction.
